Diet & Feeding

Omnivorous scavenger; eats almost anything including crumbs, grease, soap, binding in books, and human food.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and highly secretive. They go through a series of molts (instars) before reaching adulthood. They prefer dark, damp crevices and reproduce rapidly.

Risks & Benefits

Significant indoor pest. They can carry pathogens that cause food poisoning and diarrhea. Their shed skins and droppings are common triggers for asthma and allergic reactions in humans.
