Nymphs like the one pictured go through five instars before becoming adults. They are often seen on the tips of vegetation feeding or basking. They overwinter as adults under leaf litter.

Minor agricultural pest as they can damage fruit and seed crops with their piercing-sucking mouthparts. They produce a foul-smelling liquid to deter predators.
