Natural Habitat
Found in warm environments, primarily within cracks and crevices of mattresses, bed frames, and furniture in domestic sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous, feeding exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to progress through each growth stage.
Risks & Benefits
No known ecosystem benefits. Risks include allergic reactions to bites, skin rashes, psychological distress, and potential secondary infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans.
