Natural Habitat
Damp environments, under leaf litter, mulch, logs, and stones. Often found in gardens and sometimes invade homes, especially after heavy rain.
Diet & Feeding
Detritivores, feeding on decaying organic matter such as leaves and other plant debris.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, active at night. They are known for their 'hopping' locomotion when disturbed. In large numbers, they can be a nuisance when they enter homes seeking moisture.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans and pets, posing no bite or sting risk. They are beneficial in the ecosystem as decomposers, helping to break down organic matter and recycle nutrients. However, large infestations indoors can be a nuisance and may be mistaken for pests.
