Natural Habitat
Primarily human dwellings, hiding in cracks, crevices, mattress seams, and bed frames.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages, feeding exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).
Risks & Benefits
Significant public health pests. While not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itching, allergic reactions, and psychological distress/insomnia.
