Size: Typically 1-4 cm (0.4-1.6 inches) in body length, excluding antennae and legs.

Natural Habitat
Damp, dark environments like caves, basements, cellars, sheds, forested areas, and under logs/leaf litter.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivorous scavengers, feeding on decaying plant and animal matter, fungi, other small insects, and sometimes fabrics or stored food items in homes if accessible.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal; they do not chirp like true crickets. Known for their long antennae and legs, and tend to jump erratically when startled. They prefer cool, moist conditions and will seek out such areas.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans, though they can be considered a nuisance pest when they enter homes in large numbers. They do not bite or transmit diseases. In natural environments, they play a role as decomposers by consuming organic detritus.
