Natural Habitat
Moist, humid, and dark areas such as basements, bathrooms, kitchens, and attics. They often hide in cracks, crevices, and behind wallpaper.
Diet & Feeding
Synthetically and naturally occurring carbohydrates and starches including book bindings, carpet fibers, clothing, cereal, glue, paper, and photosynthesis residues.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and highly agile creatures known for their 'fish-like' swimming movement. They have a primitive 'three-step' courtship ritual and can live up to eight years.
Risks & Benefits
They are considered household pests because they can cause significant damage to personal property like books and fabric. They do not transmit diseases to humans and are not venomous.
