Natural Habitat

Typically found indoors in warm, humid areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. They congregate in cracks, crevices, and behind appliances.

Diet & Feeding

Omnivorous scavengers that eat almost anything, including food scraps, grease, starches, glue, hair, and soap.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and highly gregarious. They reproduce faster than any other residential cockroach species. Nymphs, like the one pictured, go through several molts before reaching maturity.

Risks & Benefits

They are major household pests. Risks include the transmission of bacteria (Salmonella, E. coli), contamination of food, and triggering of asthma or allergies through their droppings and shed skins.
