Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Herbivorous; both larvae and adults feed exclusively on the leaves of elm trees (Ulmus species), skeletonizing the foliage.
Behavior Patterns
Adults overwinter in protected areas like house attics or under bark. They emerge in spring to lay yellow eggs on the underside of leaves. They are known for their ability to fly and locate host trees.
Risks & Benefits
No health risk to humans. However, they are significant pests to elm trees, causing aesthetic damage and weakening trees through repeated defoliation.
