Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on the inside of dried beans, peas, and lentils. Adults may feed on nectar or pollen but primarily exist to reproduce.

Behavior Patterns

Internal feeders that pupate inside seeds. Adults emerge through circular exit holes. They are capable of flying and are highly prolific in stored food environments.

Risks & Benefits

Harmless to humans and pets in terms of health, but a significant household and agricultural pest that can destroy stored food supplies.
