Natural Habitat

Commonly found in and around human buildings, though originally from subtropical and tropical forests.

Diet & Feeding

Adults feed on nectar and honeydew; larvae are parasitoids that consume the eggs of cockroaches within their ootheca (egg cases).

Behavior Patterns

Recognizable by their distinctive flag-like abdomen which they constantly pump up and down while moving. They are solitary and hunt cockoach egg cases to lay a single egg inside.

Risks & Benefits

Highly beneficial to humans as they act as a natural pest control for cockroaches. They do not sting humans or pets and are completely harmless to people.
