Natural Habitat
Found in domestic environments, specifically in cracks, crevices, mattresses, bed frames, and furniture near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of humans and occasionally other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph stages, adult) and require a blood meal to molt to the next stage.
Risks & Benefits
High risk of psychological distress, allergic reactions to bites, and secondary skin infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases, but infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate.
