Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, specifically in furniture, mattress seams, bed frames, and cracks or crevices near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous (blood-eaters), primarily feeding on human blood.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal pests that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages, each requiring a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
Significant household pest. Bites can cause itchy red welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. While they do not typically transmit diseases, they are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
