Size: 4 mm to 7 mm (approximately the size of an apple seed)

Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, primarily in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas (mattresses, bed frames) in homes, hotels, and apartments.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, cryptic insects that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require blood meals to progress through life stages.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include skin irritation, allergic reactions to bites, psychological stress, and insomnia. While they are not known to transmit diseases, they are significant nuisance pests that are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
