Case-bearing Clothes Moth Larva
Scientific Name: Tinea pellionella
Order & Family: Order: Lepidoptera, Family: Tineidae
Size: Larvae are roughly 6-11 mm long in their cases; adult moths are about 6-8 mm.

Natural Habitat
Found indoors in closets, carpets, and areas with natural fibers like wool, silk, or fur; often seen attached to walls or fabrics.
Diet & Feeding
Feeds on keratin-rich materials, including wool, hair, fur, feathers, and occasionally stored tobacco or spices.
Behavior Patterns
The larva constructs a silken case around its body, often incorporating particles of the material it is eating for camouflage. It drags this case around as it feeds and eventually seals himself inside to pupate.
Risks & Benefits
Considered a household pest because the larvae can damage clothing, carpets, and upholstery made from natural fibers. They do not bite or sting humans and pose no direct health risk.
