Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on organic fibers including spider webs, wool, hair, and dead insects.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective silk case covered with sand and dust. It can turn around inside the case and emerge from either end to feed or move.

Risks & Benefits

Generally considered a minor indoor pest; while harmless to humans, they can damage natural fiber clothing and carpets.
