Behavior Patterns
They are nocturnal, emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymphal stages, adult) and require a blood meal to progress through each stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy, red welts (often in a line or cluster), psychological distress, and potential allergic reactions. They are not known to spread diseases to humans, but can cause significant infestation problems. There are no known benefits to the ecosystem from bed bugs.
