Carpet Beetle Larva

Indoors within carpets, clothing, upholstered furniture, bedding, and closets; outdoors in bird nests and under tree bark.

Feeds on animal-based organic materials including wool, silk, feathers, fur, hair, dead insects, and natural fibers.

Slow-moving, bristly larvae that avoid light and burrow into fabrics; undergo complete metamorphosis through egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages.

Does not bite or transmit disease to humans, but larval hairs can cause allergic skin reactions (carpet beetle dermatitis). Can cause significant damage to natural fabric items, clothing, and household textiles.
