Casemaking Clothes Moth (larva)

Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, particularly in closets, drawers, or storage areas where natural fibers are available.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on natural animal fibers like wool, silk, fur, feathers, and hair. They can also consume synthetic fabrics if blended with natural fibers.

Behavior Patterns

The larva spins a silken case around itself, incorporating fibers from its food source for camouflage. It carries this 'sleeping bag' case everywhere. If disturbed, it retreats into the case and remains still.

Risks & Benefits

They are a significant indoor pest that can cause irreversible damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. They do not bite humans or pets, but their presence can lead to property loss.
