Grain Mite (or Mold Mite)

Humid environments with stored high-protein or high-fat foods, grains, dried fruits, flour, animal feed, or high-moisture indoor areas with yeast and mold growth.

Fungi, yeast, mold, processed grains, flour, seeds, dried pet food, and cheese.

Thrives in high relative humidity (above 60-70%). Reproduces rapidly under warm and humid conditions, producing massive populations that look like a moving dust layer on surfaces or liquids.

Harmless to human physical health as they do not bite or sting. However, they can cause allergic reactions ('baker's itch') in sensitive individuals upon exposure to large infestations, and they contaminate stored food products, making them unfit for consumption.
