Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, specifically cracks and crevices in mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and walls near sleeping areas
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages, primarily feeding on human blood
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages requiring blood meals to mature.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy bites, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress/insomnia; however, they are not known to transmit diseases to humans.
