Behavior Patterns
They are largely sedentary and live within the slime layer of drains. They breathe through a small tube at their rear that breaks the surface of the water film.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans and do not bite. They can be a nuisance in large numbers and may indicate a clog or cleanliness issue in plumbing. Their presence helps break down organic matter in drains.
