Natural Habitat

Typically found on the undersides of leaves of various deciduous trees and shrubs, including sycamore, oak, and azaleas.

Diet & Feeding

Herbivorous; they use piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on plant sap from the underside of leaves, causing stippling or chlorosis.

Behavior Patterns

They are slow-moving and often stay on a single host plant for their entire life cycle. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

Risks & Benefits

Generally considered a plant pest that can cause aesthetic damage to ornamental plants and trees. They do not bite humans or pets and are not known to transmit diseases.
