Natural Habitat
Found globally in human dwellings, typically hidden in cracks, crevices, mattress seams, and bed frames.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages, feeding primarily on the blood of humans and occasionally other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive for months without a blood meal.
Risks & Benefits
Risk: They do not transmit diseases but cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, anxiety, and sleeplessness. There are no known benefits to humans or ecosystems.
