Silverfish

Damp, cool environments with high humidity like basements, bathrooms, and kitchens; often found in books, upholstery, and behind wallpaper.

Starch and sugar-rich materials, including paper, book bindings, wallpaper paste, cereal, and natural fibers like silk and cotton.

Nocturnal, fast-moving, and avoids light. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis (gradual change) and are known for their fish-like swimming movements when running.

While they do not bite or spread disease, they are considered pests because they can damage property such as books, clothing, and food stores. They serve as a food source for spiders and centipedes.
