Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, primarily living in cracks and crevices of mattresses, bed frames, and furniture near sleeping areas.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophagous (blood-feeders), primarily targeting humans but also feeding on other warm-blooded animals.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive. They feed while the host is asleep, typically every 5–10 days, and go through five nymphal stages requiring blood meals to mature.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy allergic reactions, skin rashes, psychological distress, and potential secondary infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans.
