Natural Habitat
Found globally in human dwellings, typically in cracks and crevices, mattresses, bed frames, and upholstered furniture.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous (blood-feeders), primarily targeting humans but also feeding on other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
They are nocturnal, emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages, each requiring a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
While not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itchy, red welts (often in a line) and can lead to secondary infections, allergic reactions, anxiety, and sleep deprivation.
