Found worldwide in varied habitats including gardens, forests, and agricultural fields, specifically on the underside of plant leaves.

Herbivorous; they use specialized mouthparts to suck sap (plant juices) from the vascular tissues of plants.

Known for their ability to jump quickly when disturbed and for walking sideways or diagonally. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

Generally harmless to humans but can be significant agricultural pests; they can damage plants directly by feeding or indirectly by transmitting viral and bacterial plant diseases.
