Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo five nymphal stages (instars) before reaching maturity, requiring a blood meal to molt at each stage.
Risks & Benefits
Significant public health pests causing itchy welts, psychological distress, and potential allergic reactions. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans but infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate.
