Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle Larva

Natural Habitat

Found on various plants, crops, gardens, and deciduous trees where aphid populations are present; often wander into homes in autumn.

Diet & Feeding

Voracious predators primarily feeding on aphids, but also eat scale insects, mites, and other soft-bodied arthropods.

Behavior Patterns

Larvae undergo four developmental stages (instars) before pupating into adult lady beetles. They are active hunters that crawl across foliage searching for prey.

Risks & Benefits

Highly beneficial as a natural biological control for agricultural pests. However, they may occasionally provide a harmless nipping sensation if they crawl on human skin, and as adults, they can become a household nuisance during winter hibernation.
