Natural Habitat

Earwigs prefer dark, damp, and cool environments. They are commonly found under rocks, logs, leaf litter, mulch, potted plants, and in crevices of buildings or wood structures. They can also be found indoors in basements, bathrooms, or kitchens, especially during dry or hot weather outdoors.

Diet & Feeding

Earwigs are omnivorous. Their diet includes decaying plant matter, fungi, other small insects (such as aphids, mites), and sometimes even seedling plants or soft fruits and vegetables.

They can be a nuisance pest in gardens, causing damage to seedlings, flowers, and soft fruits. Benefits: They can be beneficial in gardens by preying on other small insect pests like aphids and slugs.
