Silverfish

Damp, cool, and dark interior spaces like basements, bathrooms, kitchens, and attics.

Known for consuming matter containing polysaccharides, such as starches and dextrin in adhesives. This includes paper, book bindings, wallpaper, and certain fabrics like linen and silk.

Nocturnal and highly agile creatures that avoid light. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can live for several years, continuing to molt throughout their adult life.

Generally considered household pests because they damage property like books and clothing; however, they do not bite humans or transmit diseases. They serve as a food source for other beneficial predatory insects like spiders.
