Natural Habitat

Typically found in carpets, upholstery, pet bedding, and floor cracks where organic debris accumulates.

Diet & Feeding

Scavengers that feed on organic debris, particularly 'flea dirt' (dried blood excreted by adult fleas).

Behavior Patterns

Larvae are photophobic (avoid light) and move deep into fibers or crevices. They undergo three larval stages before spinning a cocoon to pupate.

Risks & Benefits

They represent a significant pest infestation. While larvae do not bite humans or pets, they develop into adult fleas which are blood-sucking parasites that cause irritation and can transmit diseases.
