Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, particularly in closets, drawers, and areas where natural fibers are stored.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on keratin-containing animal products such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, and sometimes silk or upholstered furniture.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective silk case covered with fibers and debris which it carries with it. It undergoes a complete metamorphosis, eventually pupating inside the case.

Risks & Benefits

Significant pest of textiles and household goods, causing irregular holes in clothing and rugs. They provide no direct benefit to humans and can cause economic damage.
