Case-bearing Clothes Moth Larva

Natural Habitat

Found indoors typically in dark, undisturbed areas like closets, under furniture, along baseboards, and in stored natural fabric items.

Diet & Feeding

Feeds on keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, silk, felt, feathers, hair, and sometimes stored grains or spices.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a silken case around its body which it carries with it as it moves. It enlarges the case as it grows and eventually pupates inside it. They tend to avoid light and are often found when cleaning dusty corners.

Risks & Benefits

Considered a household pest because they can chew holes in clothing, rugs, and upholstery made from natural fibers. They do not bite or sting humans and pose no direct health risk.
