Carpet Beetle Larva

Indoors within homes, carpets, upholstered furniture, clothing, baseboards, and bird/rodent nests outdoors.

Feeds on natural organic fibers containing keratin such as wool, feathers, fur, hair, lint, dead insects, and pet dander.

Slow-moving, bristly larvae that avoid light and seek dark, undisturbed areas to feed. They undergo multiple molts leaving behind shed skins before pupating into adult beetles.

Harmless to human health as they do not bite or sting, but the larval hairs (setae) can cause allergic skin reactions or dermatitis in sensitive individuals. They can cause minor to severe damage to household textiles, carpets, and natural clothing.
