Natural Habitat
Lawns, grassy areas, and around building foundations; often migrate indoors through windows and doors in large numbers during spring or fall.
Diet & Feeding
Herbivore; sucks juices from plants, primarily clover, grasses, and some ornamental flowers.
Behavior Patterns
Active in cool weather; they have disproportionately long front legs often mistaken for antennae. They do not reproduce indoors but enter buildings for shelter.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite humans or pets and do not cause structural damage. However, they are considered a nuisance pest because they leave a permanent red stain if crushed on surfaces like furniture or carpets.
