Booklouse

Found in warm, humid indoor environments such as damp walls, old books, pantries, and bathrooms.

Feeds on microscopic molds, fungi, starch from book bindings, and dry stored food products.

They are wingless, move quickly when disturbed, and thrive in high-humidity conditions. They reproduce parthenogenetically in many cases.

They do not bite humans, transmit diseases, or feed on wood, but large populations can become a nuisance and contaminate stored food.
