Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, specifically cracks and crevices near human sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophagous insects that feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy allergic reactions to bites, skin infections from scratching, and significant psychological distress/insomnia. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits in a household setting.
