Size: 4mm to 5mm (approximately 1/8 to 1/16 inch)

Natural Habitat
Found indoors in homes, warehouses, and museums, often in dark, undisturbed areas such as under baseboards, in closets, or within upholstery.
Diet & Feeding
Scavengers that feed on dry animal products including wool, silk, leather, fur, pet hair, and feathers, as well as dried plant materials.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae are slow-moving and avoid light. They undergo several molts, leaving behind characteristic hollow, bristly shed skins (exuviae).
Risks & Benefits
Considered a household pest as they can cause significant damage to fabrics, clothing, and carpets. Some people may experience 'carpet beetle dermatitis,' an allergic skin reaction to the larvae's tiny hairs (hastisetae).
