Larvae are light-avoiding and tend to feed in dark, undisturbed areas. They undergo a complete metamorphosis with multiple larval molts, leaving behind shed skins.

Acts as a major household pest by damaging textiles and upholstery; larval hairs can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
