Behavior Patterns
They live and lay eggs (nits) in the seams of clothing and bedding, only moving onto the skin to feed. They cannot jump or fly and are spread through direct contact or shared items.
Risks & Benefits
High risk to humans; they can transmit serious bacterial diseases such as louse-borne typhus, trench fever, and epidemic relapsing fever. They cause intense itching and skin irritation.
