Behavior Patterns
They are primarily nocturnal, emerging from hiding places at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive for several months without a blood meal.
Risks & Benefits
While they are not known to transmit diseases to humans, their bites can cause itchy red welts, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. They offer no known benefits to the ecosystem in human environments.
