Behavior Patterns
Larvae are scavengers that prefer dark, undisturbed areas. They undergo several molts, leaving behind hollowed-out brown skins. Following pupation, adults emerge and seek light.
Risks & Benefits
Larvae can damage household textiles and clothing. The hairs of the larvae can cause allergic reactions or 'carpet beetle dermatitis' in sensitive individuals. They are not known to bite or carry diseases.
