Bed Bug (Crushed Nymph)

Natural Habitat

Found in indoor human environments, particularly in and around sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, cracks in furniture, and behind baseboards.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt into each successive stage.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, insomnia, and psychological distress. While they do not transmit diseases to humans, infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate. They provide no known ecological benefits to human environments.
