Natural Habitat
Primarily resides in human dwellings, specifically near sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and furniture crevices.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagy; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).
Risks & Benefits
Direct risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, and psychological stress. While not known to transmit diseases, they are significant domestic pests.
