Silverfish

Damp, dark, and cool environments like basements, bathrooms, and attics; often found in crevices or behind baseboards.

Starch and sugar; commonly eats paper, book bindings, glue, fabrics (cotton, linen, silk), and dead insects.

Nocturnal and fast-moving; they undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can live for several years.

Generally harmless to humans and do not bite or carry disease; however, they are considered pests due to the damage they cause to books, paper, and textiles.
