Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on the microscopic film of organic matter, fungi, and bacteria that accumulates in drains. Adults may occasionally consume nectar or polluted water.
Behavior Patterns
They are poor fliers and typically crawl on walls or fly in short, jerky hops. They are nocturnal and most active in the evening when they emerge to mate.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans as they do not bite or sting. However, they can be a nuisance and may potentially transport surface bacteria from contaminated areas like drains to food surfaces.
