Behavior Patterns
Larvae are avoidant of light and hide in dark crevices while feeding. Adults are attracted to light and are often found near windows during spring.
Risks & Benefits
Significant household pest that can damage textiles and organic materials. Larval hairs can cause 'carpet beetle dermatitis' (allergic skin reactions) in sensitive individuals. They provide no significant benefits to humans.
