Carpet beetle larva

Found indoors in dark, undisturbed areas such as closets, carpets, basements, and inside heating ducts where natural fibers accumulate.

Feeds on animal-based materials including wool, silk, leather, feathers, fur, hair, and occasionally dried plant matter.

Active crawlers that avoid light, often hiding in cracks and crevices; larvae molt several times before pupating into adult beetles.

Risks include damaging fabrics, clothing, rugs, and upholstered furniture; they offer no direct benefits to homes and can trigger allergic reactions or skin irritation in some people from their bristly hairs.
